I guess I'm a bit skeptical because, even though XII was a lot of fun, I didn't get very drawn into the characters OR story of it, and those two things are important to me in FF games. Looking at XIII's characters, I don't feel interested in any of them, Lightning especially. I'm hoping that this game will surprise me, but the last FF game I really liked was IX, and my personal favorite is VII (don't care how stereotypical that sounds, for me it had great characters, a memorable story and the lore interests me more than the other titles). So perhaps I could get an opinion from someone who also likes the Playstation era of FF (VII-IX), and enjoys games with solid story and deep characters. Is Final Fantasy XIII a great game like it's hyped up to be?
