What current gaming trend really "grinds your gears?"

Well it's not a modern thing, but the abandonment of 2D gaming on mainstream consoles during the PS1/Saturn generation caused a lot of genres to lose steam, replacing them with others which don't make real use of 3D. The problem with 3D is that it necessitates spending a lot of time putting together game areas which are ultimately just spaces to run through when trying to find something interesting to do, a total waste.
The price-fixing of console games is irritating as sin, we really need to be given a few different tiers instead of being asked silly money for games which obviously aren't worth as much as the high-rated games.
The other thing is the spiral of development costs and the subsequent constriction of innovation. It will improve with time, always does, but I am SICK TO DEATH of FPS/TPS in this console generation, for the love of god give me something quirky and Japanese, a bunny-girl bum-slapping simulation, a sequel to Trapt, a sequel to Project Sylpheed.. anything.

Multiplayer modes in almost every game, even if it makes no sense.
They could enhance multiplayer to where it feels like you're playing a single player campaign instead of tacking on a mediocre deathmatch mode, that would be a good trend.

Wii shovelware!.. It's a disgrace. Nintendo should be lynched for allowing so much garbage on there system. Bad ports. Games that where meant for the gamecube but never made it. And honestly. Shouldn't have been released on any system.

Brown. Brown really, really pisses me off. Everything in Real Life is brown and sometimes grey. Everything is dark and dirty and dismal looking, and there's always lens flare from the sun that's directly overhead and not blocked by any trees, because there's no leaves on the trees so they can be brown. Blood isn't even as red as it could be, because as soon as it hits the brown it's dark brown too.
Monochrome games and stages in general piss me off. All brown, all grey, all green, anything like that, it's stupid. There's no reason not to use more colors.

Definitely co-op. It completely killed my interest in Resident Evil 5.
Another annoying trend is releasing worthless DLC like costume packs. At least put a bit more effort into it and give me something that will extend the life of my game, like more levels, songs, etc.

Game Companies releasing "sequels" that aren't really different than the previous release title. Ex. Resident Evil 5, Madden, COD Series (not including Modern Warfare.....Yet), etc.

Stop making games similar to GTA. Can anyone in this industry be creative enough to set a new trend? I wish someone would create a video game similar to the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. Fable does something like this, but make it less an RPG and more about missions changing. This way people can replay the same game and it could end different every time.

Games are too cookie cutter and simple. I need something unique, creative, inspiring, and addicting like Fallout 3. Most games just don't have charm, or challenge intelligence. I want more puzzles in my adventure games, like in Ocarina of Time, or Myst. Stop spoon feeding me. The only way a society improves is by challenging the other members to be better. Cmon gaming... challenge me. Not Ninja Gaiden style though, thats not a challange, thats just wrong.

"Mature" games: Games like Manhunt 2 and Kane & Lynch should really never be made. Not only are they bad for the image of the industry, they're more style than substance. Games like this are developed purely for the controversy, with gameplay tacked on. If it furthers the plot, then fine (obviously you can't play GTA without stealing cars), but don't try to tell me that a game like Manhunt is 'mature'. They're just going to get all the good games with violence banned.
