Do you want a new generation of consoles?
Microsoft and Sony have basically said that they dont want to make a new console soon, but personally i want a different console. Im ready for the next generation of entertainment. But are you? Do you want to have to buy a new console or would you rather keep yours?

I don't think there needs to be a new generation, but definitely an upgrade for one console. The Wii needs an upgrade or something in order it to have something similar to Xbox Live so that it makes so much easier to play with people online. How much fun would it be to bowl against your friends online? Even though the Wii was suppose to be cheap, but the online is terrible. A lot of their games would be a lot better if their online was improved.

Nope, this generation is just starting to hit it's stride and some quality games are being produced. Why would you want all the developers to have to shift to learning new architectures already? I am already waist deep in games I haven't finished and that list just keeps growing because more and more awesome games just keep coming out. Plus not everybody can afford a $500 console every couple years, that is why I don't do PC games really.

I'd rather not have a new consoles, games are pretty damn expensive to make right now as is, if a new console came out with even beefier graphical output, that would put a whole crap load more pressure onto publishers and inevitably increase the cost to the consumer. Most likely the next generation of consoles aren't going to be pushing graphical boundaries, but adding in more functionality or possibly changing how we interact with the console itself, like an addition of motion controls for the next xbox or ps3 perhaps. I'd rather the console makers just sit on the consoles for now and concentrate on having excellent games come out rather than seeing an iteration on a console or a new console generation completely

PS3 is said to have a 10 year cycle. which means the 360 has... I would say a 7 year cycle.. and that means the Wii should have had a 3 week cycle. I kid, I kid.
development is FAR too costly and pushing money into Research and development of a new console, I would say, is not in the cards for Sony yet. With the PS3 finally selling a decent amount, they have to push it into homes and really can't afford to let it flop. a single bomb can create unrepairable stigma for a company. Nintendo was almost a victim of this, But Sega was a huge victim.
Heres the conundrum.. Nintendo could easy make another console.. the Wii is little more than 2 Gamecubes taped together (said famously by the head of EA I believe.. Tripp.) so they can drop another, which... would kindof force Microsoft and Sony into dropping another console.. Right now, Nintendo has the upper hand. it's a knife-edged game. I believe.

I don't think the technology has advanced enough to justify a new generation. I have no interest in buying a new console for a marginal improvement.

NO. This generation has much potential. I think games right now are not limited by hardware that much as they are by production costs.

I don't think developers are ready for a new console, I mean they can barely take advantage of what they have right now. I don't think I'm ready for a new console anytime soon, let's take full advantage of the consoles we have now and make some better games.

Not yet. Don't think there's that much that's really NEW that they can incorporate to make it worth their while and make it worth my $400 for a new console
