What is the best Final Fantasy game?

FFVI.

The story was solid (no "all in your head" crap), there were multiple endings, large number of characters to choose from (not just like 5), the enemy wins in the middle of the game by rearranging the planet and forcing you to "start" again, and they managed to put an opera scene in it...

If FFVII wasn't so emo and the ending was better, I'd have picked that one.

And you stick well my friend :D believe me , it is one of the best games ever to come out for PlayStation. The story, the mytical characters, the graphics(at the time) , the music...all together to create one hell of a story. In the end you kinda worry about the fate and destiny of each character and you do worry about saving the happen, what could happen. Indeed i agree that the end could be better, sinc it was wide open, but hey we can't always get what we want. indeed FFVII and FFX were two of the best Final Fantasy that i have ever played and any gamer that likes to play RPG, should play those.
