I mainly look for gameplay. Next on my list is replay value, because I play the same game over and over again a lot. I don't particularly look for graphics, but if a game has amazing visuals, or a good abstract theme, that will often influence my decision.

  1. I look at story and atmosphere in game above all others. I will play a game with a great story and atmosphere even if I hear the gameplay isn't very good. I am actually a person who will replay single player just because I loved the story so much. If a game is really grabbing me with its story and setting, Im going to finish that game. That's what I look for in games. But of course I also play the games with average stories but excellent gameplay. Its just that I value story and atmosphere higher.

  2. Gameplay is first and foremost.

A game has to be...unified. It may not have the best graphics (actually this is last on my list), it may be stylized, the characters may be lacking, but if the whole package seems..."complete", I'll buy it.

  3. Story and characters are important to me, but it is a game, so gameplay is just as important. Good graphics are nice, but they are not a must-have. I also like when a game has a lot of do/collect/unlock, or good replay value in general. I love easter eggs and secrets. I also like it when a game has good cinematic cutscenes, natural sounding dialogue/voice acting, and all that stuff that make you feel like you aren't just playing a game, but you are involved in a great story-telling experience.

  4. I usually look for a game that's fun to play, has a great story (though that's less important than fun), and has some depth to it.

  5. I like a nice storyline and overall fun gameplay. Call of Duty is a great example. I love the storyline in the campaign, then I play multiplayer because it's fun.

Storyline draws me in, Gameplay keeps me playing the game =D

  7. I look for games that are original. I don't like games that are made based on a bestseller, those games tend to be far worse and the story is not that great. Sometimes I look on what people are most talking about and try those games unless I know it's a cult following of Harry Potter or something like that. Also, sports games like FIFA are really great, although players like Zidan are not in the newer releases.

  9. i mostly look for replayability and playing after the campaign with the items you had from the first playthrough. rachet and clank/dark alliance are good examples of this... i also look for gameplay.... you could have a fairly good game and have horrible gameplay and it would suck.... take two worlds 2 for example.... good enough game but the controls are different.... melee is fine but ranged sucks dick... i hate it when people say the graphics suck on a game because games shouldnt look REAL.... not yet anyway....

  17. Shooter: Realistic, Weapon variety, Weapon Customization, Lush Envirmonet(Junge or City), Destructible, Graphics all influence my decision.

RPG: Character customization, customization in general, Freedom, Quests, Main Quest, Envirments, AI All have Influence.

Racing: Realism, Variety of Cars, Car Customization, Sound, Amount & Variety of tracks all have influence.

Action/Adventure: Story, Abilities (Drive cars, guns, etc.), graphics, character personalities all have influence.

I Like to base games on the basics, a good game doesnt have to be 'state of the art' or 'revolutionary', it just needs the basics for its genre thats all.

  32. I'm really into fps, and then rpg, I like something with a story line, or something that you can follow quests with. I don't really care about what the graphics look like, but it sucks when the graphics are really bad, but I'm okay with it if the story line is good.

  33. What I look for in a game. It is mostly the storyline. Because you, "the players" want to understand how the story is created. And how it adopts to the prequels or sequel games that you first bought. Next, is the built-in characters from the game. It is very interesting how lots people like to admire video game characters from Samus, Tifa Lockeheart to etc. Everybody always have a favorite video game character they admire. How the game is played. It depends what genre of games people like to play like FPS for example. It's just a basic gameplay of controlling your character in first person with a gun. The performance of the game is what everything needs. Meaning how the game is made from the developers themselves. From the graphics, sounds and gameplay. The game has to be presentable to a lot people. Anyways, to me. There is no such thing of a good game, unless if you have played the game and claiming how bad it really is!

  34. For me story and dept is very important in a game, visuals while not extremly need are a good help, gameplay should feel interactive to what the central idea is about, and control's should give good respose and actually give you the feeling your actually the character not just another video game.

Which is why I like games like L.A Noir.

  35. The first thing I look for with any game is rather it actually caters to the audience that it is intended for. I don't know about you all but I hate "streamlined games". They often are dumbed down from what they could have been to appeal to more people and lose what makes them special.

The next thing I look for is production values VS price. If its a $60 game or the publisher wants me to buy it at $60 it better compare to other top tier $60 games on that platform in that genre.

The next thing I look at is features such as re-playability and co-op. How the online will work, is it competitive or co-operative focused. I tend to like games more you can play with a friend.

If its a single player game focus then I look at things like story, setting, originality, art style and things that would make it interesting to me on a personal level.

Last thing I look at is reviews, not just for opinions but also to know if there are any game breaking issues with a game as once I buy it I own it.
