Video Game Survival Senarios - #5 The bane of 1st place

This time its from mario kart DS: Let's say you're in 1st place and you look down, and see that someone has a blue shell preped and ready to fire. You have a single mushroom with you, and the blue shell was just launched, so how do you escape its devastating explosion? guess one and you have a chance, guess both right and you are garenteed best answer(you should at least try for both ways out of this mess).

1: Boost JUST as it explodes so you don't lose 1st. 2:Back out A.S.A.P and have it goes forwards (LOL) and takes 1st. After that use your mushroom to boost ahead and regen 1st.

  1. There's a way around the blue shell and I haven't been able to do it myself. I believe it involves going to one side, then boosting hard to the other side right before the shell hits.

    I've seen my friends do this, but I haven't been able to master it.

  3. The only thing I can think of is backing out of first place pronto so that the other player takes the blue shell, then claiming your spot back. And since people have given me the other answer, go to one side and boost hard to the opposite side before the blue shell hits.

  4. Well, crap haven't played mario kart in a long time. Okay. You could drive out of the way. Or use the mushroom.
