In Dragon Age: Origins, when you kill something does everyone gain exp or just the unit that kills it?

I think the party members back at camp may get a small share of the XP as well. I'm fairly sure there were a few party members that I've neglected to use so far but back at camp I checked and their levels were only one below mine.
