So... who here is not going to touch the Vita with a 10 foot pole?

I know I'm not gonna touch it with even a 20 foot pole! 30 foot pole! Or a 40 foot pole! I had very high hopes for it about 4 months ago. 4 days ago, I thought... Screw that P.O.S! Doing bad in its own home country is just unbelievable. I'm sure it will do just as bad in the U.S.

I mean, I like just about everything about Sony, but they just blew it with this one. I'm fine with my ps3 for 2 1/2 more years thank you very much! I'm saying that, because that is when the warranty is expired lol.

So, who else here, thinks the Vita is an overhyped technological bust? And this can't possibly be a fanboy question, because I'm sure just about everybody else here thinks the same.

Eh. I might still get one. I'll at least wait and see how it does here at launch. From the look of the launch lineup, the big games coming out for it are very western-centric and don't seem to be the kinds of games that appeal to the eastern market (with maybe the exception of Katamari and Hot Shots). Plus, Nintendo tied up an exclusive on Monster Hunter, which is the biggest handheld franchise there, but not nearly as huge here. I'm not ready to completely write it off, but even independent of how it fared in its first week or so in Japan, I'm probably going to just wait and see how it does, since I really don't have the time for too many new games anyway, with Skyrim to finish up, tons of content to play in SWTOR, and Mass Effect 3 on the horizon.

  2. I'm going to get one, mainly because I'm a sony fan-boy, but the only reason it's doing bad is because a cheaper device (with less capabilities) is out there in its own home-country as well! When Supply and Demand kicks in and they see no ones buying they'll lower the price and boom, just like the PS3! Sony's only problem is their pricing.

  4. I thought it looked cool then, and to be honest, I think it's still a solid piece of technology. I'm not saying it's the most incredible thing ever, but they brought some things people were really asking for.

Dual Analog sticks are freakin' awesome to see on a handheld, something Nintendo obviously screwed up on.

I've never been a big fan of handhelds, but I do like this one. The way it performs in Japan makes no difference to me. The content on it looks disappointing, yes. But wasn't the PS3 like that aswell???

  5. Yeah, I thought about getting the Vita, but now I'm going for the 3DS. It looks amazing. Two screens and 3D beats one touch screen.

  7. Well, I don't know yet. I have no clue why the system failed, but I'm going to wait for it's performance in North America before I decide if the system is worth the $250-300.

  8. While I can understand the appeal of the direction that handheld consoles are going I feel that the closer they get to console games the more I find myself asking why they don't just make it for a console. There are games you play for pass time and there are games you put time aside for. When I am waiting I want a game that I can easily just play for 2 or 3 minutes and be able to stop at any time like tetris or Super Mario Bros. If I want a big immersive experience like Uncharted I want a big screen to play it on and a controlled setting. I can understand AAA titles on handheld consoles if you are constantly on long trips but how many people do that?
