Are there a finite number of secondary assassination missions in Assassin's Creed 2?

I mainly just want to know if they keep serving random missions, or if you can actually finish them all. (The other mission-types like Messenger and Beat Up disappear when you complete them.) Also, does anyone know if these secondary (pigeon-coop) assassination missions are town-specific?
