Hey look! The government came up with a new idiotic idea!

Finally we get some creativity out of the Government, and this tax bill is dubbed HB269 and adds a 1% tax to all violent video game purchases! This includes games that have been rated by the ESRB T, M, or AO. Are they seriously trying to tell us Teen rated dance games, puzzle games, etc. are violent! While I don't have any serious fear that this bill will pass it is something that does deserve discussion. This is simply unconstitutional and would not only hurts consumers but game developers who would be discouraged for making the games that make up the majority of the industry. It's pushing a moral agenda onto others and shaming them for harmless activities. Do we seriously have to pay penance for our "sins"?

  8. I heard this from the GUNN Shop a little while ago. Apparently, the tax this bill may cause will actually be going towards stopping childhood obesity and things of that nature.

    My take on this situation is that games are already overpriced to no end, and we don't need to put more money down for them in our current economic state. Sure it's going to a cause, but I feel we shouldn't have to put actual money towards stopping childhood obesity. In my eyes (and tell me if I'm wrong), we shouldn't have to have money towards telling our kids to eat healthy and excersize, which we can do for free. But I digress. I'm against this.
