Before I rent, can someone tell me how much is Lightning a part of Final Fantasy 13-2?

Shes in every commercial and the cover of the game. Is she playable throughout the game?

She is only playable in the beginning of the game where you are fighting Caius. The DLC releasing today contains lightning where you fight her in a Colosseum type battle, and after you beat her, you can add her to your party. But she is on auto pilot. You can't actually control her.
