What is your favourite 8-bit computer game? Why?

Confess. I know folks of the relevant age remember their NES or MS fondly, but I'm interested in computers for this Q.

My favourite is probably Magicland Dizzy for the Spectrum. It's what was called a collect-em-up, a kind of cross between platformer and adventure where there was a heavy focus on items being collected and used to solve puzzles.

I'll go even farther and say Tempest. Always had me on my toes in the arcade.

  1. We had a Commodore64 back in the day but I was so young I only remember playing a handful of games on it (and I only got to play it years after we got it, when my older siblings were bored of it and moved on to the NES). I can't think of a definite #1 favorite we had on it, but I do remember having lots of fun playing BurgerTime, Paperboy and Dig Dug.
