Are games starting to all look the same?
from the controls to the premises of the games coming out lately, are games getting to be carbon copies of one another
Best Answer
That's why I try to support the new IPs that try something different (as long as they're good). New and different experiences this year like Borderlands and Demon's Souls were some of my favorite games.
I'm also getting severely bored with multiplayer-centric shooters, so I definitely see what you're saying.

Trans and Mobile are correct, Publishers aren't prone to take risks. especially with development costs going up, they want the returns for them. But, I'm going to go more towards self-reflection.
Perhaps you are reaching that mental state in your life in which video games just don't "do" it for you anymore. very typically when a persons interests begin to wane, they start finding flaws in things they use to love. Where you once saw action, pretty graphics, and immersive gameplay. Now you only see "Press X to not die" just a thought. I know I'm kindof there right now, sadly. :(

Well the 3 other people who answered before me are 100 correct. Like recently i tried out Bayonetta and i liked it a lot because its so different. And you get to a be a hot sexy chick. Hmm, kind of deja vu. Makes me think about PS1 and Tomb Raider...

Yeah.
Much like music and movies, everything has been done before.
I guess the Mayans are right, must be the end of the world soon. Oh well.

Some people put parts of games in others they think no one will notice it. So yes games are starting to look the same.

Only because games like that sell like mad.
Seriously, the same people that complain about "games being the same" are the same people that don't take risks by trying out new titles. Then again, the more people play the same game, the more it (the game genre) becomes refined and becomes a better game. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Seriously, how many people bought Brutal Legend? Borderlands? Mirrors Edge? Compared to games like...uhm Modern Warfare 2...Rock Band (anything)...Assassin's Creed 2...Halo: ODST...not saying those games are bad, but if people gave the same attention to new titles as opposed to sequel titles, we'd probably see more unique titles.
