If you max out your Holy level, do Holy points turn into Unholy points in Dante's Inferno?

I have been absolving most enemies and am only a few hundred short of being level 7 Holy. Can I continue to absolve people to get the extra souls, and get points towards my Unholy level after I have maxed out the Holy level?
