What is the difference between absolving shades and auto-absolving shades in Dante's Inferno?

Once you get all of the Beatrice Stones is there a reason to play the 'absolve sins' mini-game?

You get extra souls to upgrade your weapons when you choose to absolve shades. At the end of the mini-game you multiply the sins collected by 30, and that will give you the number of bonus souls you are awarded. When you auto-absolve, you do not get any bonus souls.

  1. from what I hear, still playing the mini game will get you more, as opposed to auto-absolving.
