Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be an entirely separate game from Final Fantasy XIII, developed by the Tetsuya Nomura-influenced side of Square-Enix. Not much is known about this FFXII cousin, but it is said to take place within the same universe as Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, as part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation". The battle system is speculated to be similar to Kingdom Hearts, only more realistic and involving some third-person elements similar to Dirge of Cerberus. The story is said to be very "dark", as stated by Square-Enix representatives, but besides that, almost nothing is known about the plot. The game has been in development for several years, and there's no telling how long it will be until it's actually finished. So far, the game looks intriguing, to say the least, but ever preview so far has only shown full motion video, and until real game play footage is shown, no one can judge it as a game.
