How do you feel about Gamestop?
Best Answer
Used to work for them. For what they do, they're all right. Not the best company policies when it comes to the gamer or the employee, but they're in business to make money, and you can tell that is all the company really cares about. Good for shareholders I guess.

They have good deals and promos every once in a while, thats the only time I shop there. Other wise I show at GAMECRAZY, they know me there and I get taken care of. At Gamestop you're just another number.

Mixed feelings - I think they are there to serve the gamer in the end but it just seems like you get ripped off half the time you trade in there. All in all, its a good shop though.

I don't have any problem with them. They generally have good prices, and at least the GS near me the sales clerks are somewhat knowledgeable.

While they aren't a bad company, in my book, I am extremely displeased that they no longer carry PC games in all stores. Now that I am working and have money, I am buying games like it's my job, and I really wish I could walk into a nice store like GameStop and just pick on up.

I like 'em. 70 dollars for trading in my old DS Lite, 156 dollars for trading in 5 games (None of which were actually 'new'.) Sure, some clerks don't have a clue. ("Do you have a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4?" "... What?") But some actually know what they are doing. Plus, with their prices and deals, I do enjoy stopping by GS once and a while.

On a 1-5 scale with 1 being "they're worthless" and 5 being "I live there," I rate them a 2. I hate the way they "gut" the games and then sell them as new if they run out of sealed copies behind the counter. I have gotten a few good deals over the years, so they don't TOTALLY suck.

I worked at a GameStop for a while.
They ARE a corporation and a lot of the things we do are company policy and a lot of the time we have really no control over. Too many angry customers seem to not understand that.
The used game market we had is completely automated and is updated daily - controlled by some people somewhere with some central database. We couldn't give you more money for your game if we wanted to!

Don't care for any store where the manager tells me that a game I read about in their magazine doesn't exist.
