Never played Myst before. Which version should I play?
I'm a fan of adventure games (LucasArts, Sierra, etc), but I've never gotten around to playing the Myst series. I've been thinking about starting, but I'm not sure which version of Myst to start playing. I heard the DS version was a horrible port and that the iPhone app is coming out soon. Should I wait for that version?

Be wary of playing MYST. It's slow. Ridiculously slow. But that doesn't mean it's a bad game. It was AMAZING when it came out, but with today's gaming menu and processing power, MYST can easily feel boring. If you play it, just go into it knowing it's a slow
(but good) puzzle game.

Myst is a special game.. I would recommend going for the original PC port. Don't expect a lot of adventure so to say. Mostly puzzles.

Real Myst.
the original Myst was more of a slideshow. Real Myst allowed for more of an FPS free roaming experience. same game, just updated. I would start there.

I tried the DS version and it sucks. Go for the original PC version.

If you want a true Myst experience, the original from 1993 is the best one because Myst gameplay is essentially point 'n' click puzzle genre, nothing more. If you play a later version that's had a bunch of bells & whistles grafted on, it's not Myst. I remember being blown away by Myst when it first came out, though of course now it's primitive compared to today's killer apps. If you don't have access to an old Mac or PC running System 7 or Windows 3.1, try to find an emulator for it.
