Do you think games companies should do more to prevent piracy on consoles like the DS and PSP?
Best Answer
Thats like asking water not to be wet .... i really think that piracy will always exist as long as there are people willing to do so.

No, they should not. Seriously, they are wasting their time and money on this subject. Pirates cannot be stopped.

It is a double edged sword studies have shown that titles can sell well dispite piracy. While I don't condone piracy. It can make a developer work harder to release a quality title instead of pushing an unfinished mess. Games like Gears of War CoD 4, ect all AAA titles put up big numbers dispite I'm sure a huge number of prirated copies. Game companies could do more but as some else said there will always be people to challenge the opposition. Up counter piracy methods and someone will be there to get by them. Find a happy medium I say. Protect the game but not to the extent you alienate the consumer.

Nintendo already has started to combat the DS piracy, attacking the major retailers that sell the R4 carts in Japan. I don't pirate any games, not even emulators on the PSP or PC. Something about it doesn't feel right but battling piracy is notoriously difficult. It will take many more legal battles and possibly changing laws if piracy is to be actually stopped.
