How can I get into E3 this year?

I don't work for a gaming company. Is it still possible to get into E3?

I own my own gaming website, but that isn't the only way that you can get in. I received a pass based on my position as a journalist, but you can also purchase a pass for $400, or go as a guest of another journalist. I'd suggest freelancing it up as much as possible before the end of May, and perhaps shopping your work around to various websites who may want to take you along for the extra coverage. Getting into E3 is not as tough as many would have you believe, especially this year since they're wanting to up the attendance after last year's disastrous showing. You can also count on winning various contests that offer you a chance to go if all else fails.

  1. From the FAQ... the answer is no. ( http://www.e3expo.com/content/1143/faq/ ). I'd suggest trying to find a website that'd be interested in letting you cover the event for them (short of starting an indie dev project legitimately or getting a job in the industry). If you offer to pay your way and give them free coverage you might be able to pull it off.

If you're just going as a spectator remember that it'll be effectively taking tickets from more deserving industry people. Think carefully. Basically be useful or don't go.

  4. You have to have credentials, but the previous suggestion is marketing yourself as a free coverage and someone out there might throw you a bone and get you in for them, just be prepared to work after that.

  5. well it depends how good are you at stealth.
you could descise you self as a Crave or THQ employee and say that your from them and know one could care cause your from the most crappiest company's ever.
or go in looking like a one of those hot cos-players but if your a dude i dont think it will work out, unless you can make your self look like a girl... never mind that plain... >>
or go in total metal gear solid style like the card board box, the bandanna, tranquilizer gun, camo suit, etc...

just some of my ideas :D

  6. If you really want to go and have any sort of skills, I'm sure you could find somebody that needs help for the event. If you want tot go just to go, then I'd probably say you're SOL.

  8. You can start your own game related website. That.. Or asking a game site to let you go on there behalf is really the only "easy" options. I say east with a grain and salt
