Am i the only one that thinks Red Dead Redemption was over hyped?

I rented Red Dead Redemption like every other gamer out there. And, to be honest, i wasn't as impressed as i was with Grand Theft Auto IV. Maybe i just don't like Wildwest games or something. It's a good game, just not as good as everybody says. Does anybody else agree with me? Anybody think i'm 100% wrong?

Small glitches aside, it's a "game of the year" front-runner for me.

I understand that the game's setting might not appeal to everyone, but at least it hasn't been done to death already. The game also loses a bit of it's magic if you just plow through the main story missions. Part of what makes it so great for me is just the number of optional gameplay distractions (like gambling, hunting, and treasure finding). It's just a really easy world for me to get into.

  1. It was a good game, But the key thing reviewers left out was the random freezing and other problems that plagued the game.

That's why I traded my copy in.

  2. Hm, I haven't played it, but I'm not really into sandbox style games... which do tend to be popular. From what I've seen from pictures it looks quite nice, and the thought of playing a "western" video game almost makes me want to give it a try, just because it's different. So what didn't you like about it? Gameplay? Story?
