Three Red Rings on Xbox?
Iv'e been getting the three red ring o' death on my xbox quite often(randomly). But it has never really had a negative impact besites shutting down mid-game which really pisses me off! I heard that it's a power cable issue but i'm not sure.

hmm... what is the manufacturing date? if it's an older 360, it may just be RRoD'ing.
if it's a newer, I would definately borrow, or head to your local gamestop or something with the 360 and ask if you can test a block, or just the cord. more than likely, they should be cool and let you at least test it.
But, you said mid game?. sounds like a heat issue to me. either with the 360 itself or perhaps the power block.

Once it RRoD's, it's going to M$. To me, random shut downs are unacceptable. The good thing is that there's actually a M$ store near me so I can just take it there instead of waiting forever for it :)

Well, if it's really three lights and not a different number, it's likely the RROD. My first 360 would freeze randomly and show the three red lights for a while, but would start back up if I turned it off and back on. However, it was on its way out, because one or two weeks later it got the RROD for good. Either way, if you've had it less than 3 years, MS will fix it for free.

If it's 3 Red Rings, that means you're console is having a hardware issue. Basically meaning that it is broken. If you're having 2 or 4 Red Rings, it's not as much as an issue of 1 or 3.
You can either ship it in or try to fix it yourself if it's out of warranty. Also when i got my first Red Ring, i wrapped mine up in blankets, let it run, and it worked for quite a while.
As a closer, check the color on you're power supply when it red rings. If it's green, you're screwed. But if it's still orange when it's red ringing, then you're power supply isn't plugged in all of the way.
