You can't really.. The graphics look really bad when you do. Try plugging the regular composite cables (red, white, yellow) in and changing your output to 480i (from Display Settings menu).

As for Shadow of the Colossus specifically, there are rumors circulating that ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are going to be ported to PS3 with HD graphics....and they are coming together on one disc!

  1. You can't. The game wasn't originally programmed to display in a resolution higher than 480p, so it can't be run in the HD resolutions (720i/p and 1080 i/p). The PS3 might do a bit of upscaling, but what you see now is probably the best you can get. Though some games are getting HD versions on PS3, so far God of War has been made as a HD collection and the Sly Cooper games are coming soon. There have been rumors of a Team Ico HD collection, but no official word.

  2. That video is of Shadow of the Colossus playing on a PC using an emulator, which will actually render the game at a higher resolution.

on a PS3, to play PS2 games (if it's BC) you need to go into settings, Then Game options I believe.. not 100% sure. in there is an option to upscale. make sure that is checked, then any Ps2 game you play will upscale. BUT, it won't be some magical change. the game will just look a little sharper, unlike the emulator, which is increasing the ACTUAL rendering resolution. the Ps3 will only upscale the output resolution. 2 completely different things. it "helps" but you won't get a huge difference.
