Do you consider the iPhone a gaming system?

Some think that the iPhone isn't really a gaming system, even though it has a marketplace that boasts hundreds of games in their App store. But some don't think the iPhone is a legitimate gaming system. What do you think?

I consider the iPhone a modified portable gaming console. Honestly, to be a gaming console, it needs atleast a few real buttons. And you can make calls on it, so it's not really a gaming console. But i know many people who don't think that way.

  1. I think it is. It's not 100% dedicated to gaming since it also has a ton of other uses, but I bought an iPod Touch to take advantage of some useful work-time apps, but also in large part for games. In fact, the iPhone and related platforms have the advantage of extremely cheap games (the most expensive ones are still 1/4 the price of new DS games) and the fact that it's a device that'll usually always be with you.

  2. I would consider the iPad a gaming system. The only difference is the size, but I think the controls get kind of hairy on an iPhone because your fingers block a good portion of your view (at least in some cases).

  3. I feel like the iPhone can't be considered a gaming system simply because it's main purpose isn't gaming. I don't have one myself but I have friends that have iPhones and maybe play one game on it like scrabble but use it mostly for its phone, iPod and browsing capabilities. It's like buying an Xbox but only watching your netflix movies on it, that's not its main purpose or what its marketed for, just an added feature.
