How many times in Heavy Rain can your characters actually die?

So far I have messed up as Madison, Ethan, and Shelby in different situations (fight in Madison's apartment, the car ride on the wrong side of the road, and in the fight in the liquor store)....each time some how everything works itself out. How many situations are there where you can actually die, and which ones are they?

I have found that none of the characters can really be killed for the first half of the game. Once you go to visit the creepy doctor as Madison that is when you have to start worrying about your characters' lives. She can die in that chapter and in the fire. Norman can die in the junkyard and the club. If Ethan gets caught twice he will be imprisoned for the rest of the game and eventually hang himself. Lauren, Shelby's sidekick, can when you wake up tied to the steering wheel of a car.
And in the last few chapters all the characters can die so you have to be really careful when you think you are reaching the end of the game.

  1. Well, there are some missions where the game doesn't want them to die. They might not make it throught the mission perfect, but they won't die.

    I have found situations to get them killed though. (One time i played through and tried to get everybody killed) I got Madison dead when she got locked in the "Mysterious room" at the end and jumped out of a window and died.

    I got Ethan to be stuck in jail, then he hung himself. And i think those are the only 2 people i got to die in the game. I need to try to get the other ones to die =P
