Microsoft says "Who needs Blu-ray". Are they right or wrong?
This article makes some good points, but i think it might have been defeated already. One good point is they said it was better to have games on DVDs rather than Blu-rays to keep prices low. And i totally agree with that. Gaming consoles shouldn't break the bank. But what do you think? Is Microsoft wrong for saying this? Or do you agree?

DVD is still the "preferred" method. the large amount of space on the Bluray disc requires a lot of redundant file placement to keep reading speeds and loading in an expectable range.
I think Microsoft did just fine not going with a higher capacity storage. Sony really wasn't thinking about the consumer when they put BluRay into the PS3, it's just a Sony move they always do, make up a new format, force it onto the public, and let it fail miserably. MiniDiscs, BetaMax, UMD, it's there M.O.
Don't get me wrong, Bluray movies are great looking, and I don't even buy regular DVD's anymore. but with streaming movies continually gaining ground, they REALLY need to give people a reason to keep coming back to Bluray.

The industry is going through a weird transition. The space in Blu-Ray discs are amazing, but the consumer saturation isn't as big as when the DVD came out. XBox has the upper hand as far as games, so a lot of studios still need to cater to XBox, which means cutting down a game for a potential PS3 exclusive so a game can get more exposure.
I know it may sound confusing, but basically I think M$ is not willing to admit defeat.
