Is there an advantage to buy an LED TV rather than an LCD TV?

And is there a difference in cost? Do LED TVs have better picture quality?

LED's are still quite a bit more expensive. you can get a good LCD 50-inch TV for just under 1K. an LED of the same quality and size is still in the 2K range.

in terms of visible differences. the sharpness is about the same, LED's have deeper blacks no matter which version of LED you get (edge lit or back lit.) Side by Side an LED will look better. but separately it's harder to discern a big difference. I'd still go with an LCD over an LED just because of the price difference. it's pretty big.

  1. LED's will eventually replace LCD Tv's, but as of right now they are a lot more expensive. LED's have: Plasma-like blacks on top of most of LCD's advantages; high energy efficiency; ultraslim design.

LCD's have higher resolution than comparable-sized plasmas; no danger of burn-in; available in a wide range of sizes.

    Hope this helps

  2. They are energy efficient, do not get hot after being on for a long time, and are very bright.

  3. Well now the price doesnt matter all lcd led tvs have had a major price drop but if i were to get a tv which i just did not to long ago i would get LCD because they last longer and the picture quality from further away is much better than LED. Both are very similar tvs but the LCD is much better for the time being will they modify the LEDs i imagine down the road when another price cut comes out.
