What factors in to you getting a game on release day?

For some it's popularity, but for others it's something as simple as a nice paycheck coming in, or maybe a spur of the moment purchase at a convenient time. Maybe you're extremely loyal to a brand...I dunno.

What do you think? For me it's a combination of a paycheck and timing. I don't really pay much attention to release dates, but if it's convenient, I'll go and get it.

First off, if i don't have the money, i can't really buy it. Unless it is a game i'm in love with (CoD games, Halo).

So, probably the biggest factor in me getting a game day one is the popularity combined with how much i like the series or what i've heard about the game.

Timing doesn't really affect my purchases, just when i get to play the game.

  1. Sometimes I'll make a table during the busy seasons and arrange the games I want by release date then decide from there which ones I really want and trying not to overspend. Though ultimately for me it comes down to the day one purchases for me being the games I want the most, either out of some kind of brand loyalty or mostly just from something catching my eye when looking around at game previews.

  2. For me it depends on the game, i went to the midnight lounch for resident evil 5 and couldn't get up early enough for metal gear solid 4 and GTA 4. I get at least one of either fifa or pro on relise date but it can be just a feeling with a bit of dough in your pocket. But when the supermarkets get involved with the price as low as 25 quid it can turn your head, but it is hard at times like this when a load of great games start coming out all most every week. so the main 3 factors are the brand of game,price on relise date and your gut feeling on the day.

  3. I look forward to games for months. So if I have the money when a game I want comes out, I get it right away. Usually it has to do with brand loyalty, but sometimes there will be a new IP that i pick up because it looks really cool (Dead Space).
