Which developer is better, Treyarch or Infinity Ward?

I've been hearing a lot of people dogging on Infinity Ward. In my opinion, IW is (or was) an amazing developer and far ahead the skill of Treyarch. Why? Because IW makes all these great ideas, and then next year, Treyarch just copies it and puts a new spin on it. If you look at other Treyarch games, they don't deliver (Quantum of Solace is one of these, and 3ARC tried to copy CoD 4 with this game). What do you think? Is 3ARC better than Infinity Ward?

Who's dogging on IF? They both do good games, but if you're looking for my opinion on who's "better", I'd say IF. Treyarch has made a lot of games, but it was only when they piggy backed on the CoD franchise did they finally get some recognition...and even then they got that attention after CoD 4 came out. There's nothing inherently wrong about Treyarch, but to me they stand as a "meh" company and only became popular on another company's coattails. IF, on the other hand, has had nothing but success even though they've only produced a few titles. I'd rather be known as a one trick pony that's received positive critical reception than to be a company that's been around for longer living off of franchises that are given to them, making less than stellar games.

  2. I assume we are only talking about CoD? Because unfortunately IW doesn't do anything else to compare. Treyarch has made quite a few good games over the years outside of CoD, whereas IW has yet to prove themselves outside of this series. They may just be a one-trick pony as far as we know. Overall I guess Treyarch is better just by default because they have done things that aren't just first-person shooters.

    If we are just talking about the CoD series, Black Ops is really good, but it is the only CoD game by Treyarch I have liked so far, so in my opinion IW is better. But the campaign in Blacks Ops is just as good if not better than the campaign in any of IW's games, and the multiplayer is a big improvement over World at War too which I think is attributed to them *finally* ditching the WWII-era weapons/setting (which is thankfully something IW came to their senses and did three or four years ago).

  3. I can't really speak with any knowledge of CoD BlOps since I haven't played it yet, but based on CoD4, MW2 and WaW, I'd say that the Infinity Ward games felt better to me. Though now, since Infinity Ward has essentially been gutted, it still remains to be seen where their future might be with the CoD games.

  4. I think that Infinity Ward is definitely the better developer. I haven't played many games by Treyarch that I liked..
