In your opinion, in which way is best to gather gamers together?
In order to have fun, to connect, and just be themselves? Is it the game type, the environment, or the thrill of the frag? Give me some responses.

I think there are many angles to take when looking at this question. If I was to say "best" as in to get the largest group of gamers together in the easiest fashion then I would say online gaming networks like XBox Live, PSN, and Steam are the best. If I was to say "best" as in being together in a physical location, something that happens on a regular basis, and is accessable to most people then a LAN party. Finally, if I was to say "best" and think about the gaming community as a whole, and the amount of people and distance traveled are non issues then events like PAX, Tokyo Game Show, and E3 would fit the bill.

Well a tournament will always make people reveal who they are under pressure and stress...but that's not always a good thing. I think gaming conventions like PAX would be the best place to see gamers in their natural habitat.

Give something away for free, like Food or some cheesy collectible that will eventually get thrown away.

Throw a party. Offer a bunch of games of different genre. Play anime. Buy alcohol (if you're legal enough, lol). The whole point is to have fun anyways.
Later on, you can customize any future parties. Getting into logistics of what a game party should be will take the fun out of hosting one.
Personally, I'd try and do something on a regular basis...game night or something.

Playing online is the best way to hook up with other gamers. I never knew I could have so much fun playing with strangers.
