It's time to ask the BIG question... Mac, or P.C.?
Best Answer
Like Pondito pointed out, most people here will probably go PC because they are gamers. Then again, people like me don't play games on the PC, so I'll try to go with an unbiased answer here.
In my experience with a Mac, they are very powerful, professional and futuristic computers. They are expensive, so unless you use one at work or school, many people don't get much experience with them. They do take some getting used to if you are primary a PC user, but from what I've seen, you can do anything a Mac that you can on a PC. And if there's something the Mac OS can't do, you can even install Windows on your Mac.
I'm not against PC, though. The computer I'm using now is a PC, it works pretty well and I only paid 200 bucks to put it together. (It's got 2 gigs RAM, a 500g HD and a decent processor. The mother board is a bit old, though). Unfortunately this computer does have some quirks and problems. I don't blame my hardware for anything, I blame the Windows OS in general. PCs can be great, but it's Mac for me.

The answer depends on what is important to you. In the end, if your on gameanswers.com and I assume your a gamer, then PC because while the install base of Mac PC games is growing, its still a flicker of light vs. the sun that is PC gaming.

Mac. Simply because of the operating system, it's more user friendly, stylish and you don't have to worry about configuration and drivers.

For the day to day, work, & design, I'm Mac all the way. But I do hop on a PC if I feel like doing some desktop gaming.

PC. Most of the chemistry software I use like HyperChem and various NMR/IR analysis software is Windows or Linux based. Also, for home use, I go for PC as well, as the MS office suite is pretty much necessary for what I do and the features I need, and very few big retail games are made for Macs these days.

PC. The Mac is awesome, yes, but most things are designed for PC, and it's just less hassle for people who're more interested in gaming to use one. This is also why I pick WinXP over Linux.

Mac here. I got my Macbook Pro about 10 months ago, and I love it. It is way better than my piece of crap HP that I had. The fan on that thing was ridiculous. I use Boot Camp to boot into XP though to play games. I love that I have the option of switching OS at will, to suit what I want to do at any given time.

The answer is now simply. A Mac is a better buy for the money and is hands down the better computer. My Mac has NEVER crashed, doesn't get viruses, comes with loads of software and is faster then any PC on the planet.
And now, you can run all your windows programs on an Intel based Mac. If you're a creative person who enjoys graphics, video editing, photo's, music or any other hobby. You will be in love with your Mac.
Some say Mac's are more expensive but they are not. PC's come loaded with a bunch of ads. Mac's come loaded with a bunch of free software which is really good. PC's break down from viruses and every PC owner I know is pulling their hair out out of frustration. Every Mac owner I know never has those problems, ever.
Get a Mac and you'll wonder what took you so long.

From the decades of experience with PC and Mac, I have to say Mac when it comes to hardware.
Don't get me wrong, I have recently been trying to look for a good laptop before this question occurred and as much versatility as PC is, a Mac just has more options...thanks to its intel dual core and solid design. PC computers have no real way to switch between OS's.
As a singular OS though, PC has my vote on versatility alone. Mac has the upper hand as far as a virtually virus-free OS and easy to use interface, but more versatility = more options and that means a more customized experience for the PC user.
So I guess on hardware, it's Mac. For software, it's PC.
