What is Sumplete?

Sumplete is a daily number puzzle that works like a reverse Kakuro. You get a grid of numbers with a target sum for every row and column. Delete numbers until each row and column adds up to its target. The daily puzzle is a 5x5 grid, and a 7x7 Master puzzle is also published.

The game became famous in 2023 because it was designed with help from an AI assistant, and it has been published daily ever since.

How to play Sumplete

Tap a number to cross it out, tap again to keep it. When the sum of the remaining numbers in every row and every column matches its target, the puzzle is solved. Each puzzle has a unique solution.

When does the new Sumplete come out?

A new Sumplete unlocks at midnight in your local time zone. We publish hints and answers as soon as the puzzle is available and keep every previous day in the archive above.

Sumplete strategy and tips

1. 1Find the rows that must keep everythingIf a row's target equals the sum of all its numbers, nothing in it can be deleted.
2. 2Find the zerosA target of zero means every number in that line goes.
3. 3Use large numbersA number bigger than its row's target must be deleted.
4. 4Work both directionsEvery decision affects a row and a column. Check both before committing.
5. 5Count remaining optionsNear the end, the leftover totals usually force the last few cells.
